Operators:

A small but experienced international group of operators was active from the Sultanate of Brunei between 4 and 19 November 2007.

UPDATE: written by V8FWP,V8FDM and V8FWU, daily at around 3.00z
19-11-2007
This DX-pedition has ended today. We reach 19.279 QSO's. For this 14 days operating, there are not so many QSO's in the log. The main reason for this was because of our focus on the low bands. Most of the time at least one operator was active during the day. 75% of our QSO's were in CW. Even in RTTY we made 1.555 QSO's. So we hope that many of you were happy with a new one, or at least find some bandpoints.
We are grateful to all our sponsors and the local V85 operators who visited us and specially to our host Ambran V85SS and his family.

The complete team, Left to Right :

Flo,F5CWU(V8FWU) from France

Ronald, PA3EWP ( V8FWP ) from the Netherlands

Tom , GM4FDM ( V8FDM ) from Scotland

Some statistics:

----------------------------------------------

18-11-2007
Last night we had a little opening on TOP band to the West Coast of the USA.
Approx. 20 stations were logged. There was no propagation at all to Europa.
Even not at our sunrise. Just after sunrise we took down already some antennas.
The Titanex antenna and the beverages are dismantled.
During the day we still use the beam and the 17m dipole.
For the last night we will use the 30 meter vertical and the 40 meter 4 square.
These antennas will be removed tomorrow after sunrise.
Maybe in the morning we will be active with one radio and the beam.
At this moment 18.093 QSO's are in the log.
On TOPband we have 722 QSO's and on 80 meter 1.673 QSO's

----------------------------------------------

16-11-2007
Last night the propagation on 160m was very poor. Only a few EU's and NA's made it in the log. Hopefully the last to 2 days the propagation will improve.
Many RTTY QSO's were made on 20/30 and 40 meter. Most of them were AS and EU. We will focus for RTTY for NA the coming days.
We have now nearly 600 QSO's on 160m and 1200 QSO's on 80 meter.

-----------------------------------------------

15-11-2007
At least 50 North-Americans made it in the log on TOPband. We were waiting for this opening and finally it was there. We have only 3 evenings left for another good opening. This morning we didn't work any EU's. In the beginning of the night the low bands were too noisy to copy anything. During our Sun Rise it improved, but there was no propagation.
We have now 14.700 QSO's in the log. It's not much, but we spend a lot of time on low-bands.

-----------------------------------------------

13-11-2007
Last night we were not active due a big barbeque with the amateurs of Brunei.
We had a great time. The coming days we will be not active on daytime. We will do some site seeing. Just to act as normal tourists.

-----------------------------------------------

12-11-2007
Due to circumstances we were not able to operate during the greyline on TOPband for USA.
We started around 14.45Z and worked 14 NA stations.
The band propagation was good, later we worked many Europeans.
In total we logged this night 95 QSO's, for many it was a new one.
If the band propagation holds like last night we can work many more NA en EU operators.
We have now in total nearly 11.000 QSO's in the log.
Please don't work dupes, it's a waste of time for you and for us!

------------------------------------------------

11-11-2007
Last night we were able to log some NA stations on TOPband. Approx. 15 made it in the log and a few more were calling but the signals were too weak. But we still here for 1 week so don't give up. Last night after the SS at NA we quit on 160m, during the contest in EU there was no response at all.
Even on 80 meter it's was difficult to get response.
So, this time during our Sunrise we were not available.

Don't forget we have only 1 antenna and we have to share it between 80 and 160 meter.

We participate also in the WAE RTTY contest.
 ------------------------------------------------

09-11-2007

Last night we had bad propagation on TOPband. We managed only to make a few NA and a few Europeans. At this moment we have 6.200 QSO's in the log.
Don't forget: "If we are on 160 meter, we can not be active on 80 meter". The additional dipole for 17 meter works fine. We can now be active on more bands at the same time during the day.

There a lots of requests for skeds by email. It's impossible to honor those skeds, the team is doing whatever they can to catch every single opening.

New photo's added  and new logs again.

-----------------------------------------------------------

08-11-2007

Last night we were active again on lowbands. The noise was higher than the day before. Only a few NA made it on topband. We will be there again this night. We have now around 4.500 QSO's in the log, most of them (85%) are in CW.

--------------------------------------------------

07-11-2007

Yesterday we finished the beverages. 1 beverage to NA, with a length of 150 meter. For Europe we have a beverage with a length of 160 meter. It is impossible to extent these lengths we have to do with this. And we can say that it’s not an easy job to setup a beverages in the jungle in this heath and rain-showers.

Last night we worked approx. 170 stations on 160m. The beverages working fine.

Today we will fix the problem with the K9ay,

But at least we have less antenna work to do and can focus on the operating part of this DX-pedition.

Approx 250 RTTY QSO’s were made. Yesterday the interference of 80m was too bad on 20m. So it was impossible to decode these signals.

Due to a small log conversion problem the online logs are not yet there. We hope to solve this as soon as possible.

-------------------------------------------

06-11-2007

At this moment 2.000 QSO's are in the log.
We were active on 80 meters and made the first QSO's.
We tried also 160 meters for a short time, but no answers.
During the day we will make the beverages + k9ay antennas for the low bands.

The 30 meter vertical is also working very nice, nearly 400 QSO we already made, with propagation to EU, JA and NA at the same time.

More photo's are online now here.

Listen to a recording of V8FWP on 160 by OH3XR or a recording of V8FWU on 80m also by OH3XR .. .thanks for sending Marco.

Another nice recording from V8FWP on 160 by OZ1LZJ, Thanks John

Or a difficult qso V8FWP - OZ1ING 160m , Thanks for sending Henrik

05-11-2007

After we arrived we setup the 4 square for 40 meters. We were busy for that for a few hours. We are not used to the heat outside. But we managed it. The 4 square is working fine.
The first qso's are in the log now. Both stations are working fine.

Today we were busy with the antennas.
It took a long time to finish the V160E, but it is ready now.
Approx. 25 radials are on the ground. SWR is fine on 80 and 160 meter.
For 30 meter we have now a vertical. And we improved the radials on the 40m 4 square.
Tomorrow we will build 2 beverages (Europe and NA) and the K9AY.

The first photo's are online now here.
